ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN - STYLES
As you know architecture and painting are the most ancient arts. Architecture up to the middle of the 12th century being hand-in-hand with painting, sculpture, decorative art but all the time playing first fiddle set the style in art.
Such great styles as Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Classicism, Empire / Late Classical period variation / are usually considered to be equal and equipollent. Each of the styles appeared as a result of new tendencies in the culture and reflected the social trends of the society and ideology. So, today in the Post-Soviet territory the new Stalin's Empire style has come into existence (we can gaze the luxurious buildings of the Stalin era identifying with the might and dignity of the Soviet state in the centre of Moscow and other capitals of the USSR).
